EURe, issued by Monerium hf., is a euro-referenced electronic money token (EMT) that represents regulated electronic money redeemable at par value for euros (EUR) through direct SEPA bank transfers [S1][S2].

EURe tracks the euro (EUR) at a 1:1 par value and is electronic money rather than a fund unit, so it pays no yield; as an Electronic Money Institution, Monerium is legally prohibited under the Electronic Money Directive from paying interest [S1][S3]. Monerium earns revenue from investment returns on safeguarded assets rather than customer charges, and all services, including minting and burning of EURe, currently carry no fees, with advance notice promised before any future pricing [S3].

Monerium hf. is an Icelandic limited company (company number 5711100240) authorized as an Electronic Money Institution under Iceland's Act No. 17/2013, supervised by the Financial Supervisory Authority of the Central Bank of Iceland [S1][S4]. EURe is electronic money classified as an e-money token under MiCAR Art. 3(1)(7) [S2]. Holders own the underlying segregated reserves and hold the highest-priority claim in insolvency under the Icelandic Bankruptcy Act No. 21/1991 [S5][S1]. Holders must complete KYC due diligence; U.S. residents are excluded for tax reporting purposes [S1]. Monerium redeems at par value at any moment, in whole or in part [S1].

EURe uses the ERC-20 standard alongside ERC-2612 and ERC-1271 [S6][S5]. It is natively issued on Ethereum, Polygon, Gnosis, Arbitrum, Base, Linea, and Noble [S6]. Incoming SEPA payments to a named Web3 IBAN automatically mint tokens; sending EURe burns them and delivers euros, with SEPA Instant settling within roughly 5 seconds including the onchain step [S5][S2].

Monerium

Monerium EUR emoney (EURe) is a euro stablecoin issued by Monerium through Monerium hf.

Each token is redeemable one-for-one for euros and is a direct claim on the issuer.

Reserves are held in bank deposits and money market funds, in segregated accounts within a bankruptcy-remote structure.

They sit with Arion Bank, LHV Bank, and State Street Global Advisors.

Retail investors and institutions can mint and redeem directly with Monerium in EUR after completing KYC, and holders have a contractual right to redeem at par.

Holder terms are governed by the law of Iceland.

EURe has been issued on public blockchains since August 2024 and is native to Polygon, Gnosis, Arbitrum One, Ethereum, Linea, and Base, with bridged versions on two more.
