GBPm, issued by the Mento Protocol smart contracts under the governance of protocol tokenholders, is a stablecoin that references the value of the British Pound (GBP) and circulates as a tokenized digital unit of account.

Holders receive a digital token whose economic value tracks the British Pound (GBP). Each unit is intended to function as a unit of account and medium of exchange referencing one British Pound, with value maintained through the protocol's onchain stabilization mechanism rather than through an entitlement to a named underlying security, deposit, or money market instrument carried by the holder.

GBPm is not issued by a single corporate entity. It is created and administered by the Mento Protocol smart contracts under tokenholder governance, and no single corporate issuer holds the obligations of the token. The structural particulars governing the holder's legal claim, the jurisdiction of any associated entity, any applicable regulator or license regime, eligibility and offering restrictions, redemption rights, and the custodial or reserve arrangements protecting tokenholders are administered at the protocol level rather than through a centralized corporate issuer.

GBPm exists as a programmable token issued onchain on supported public networks rather than through a single offchain register. New units enter and leave circulation through the protocol's onchain minting and burning functions, which execute automatically through smart contract logic, and balance transfers settle onchain at the point that the underlying network confirms each transaction.
