STABAL3, issued by the Balancer Protocol smart contracts under the governance of BAL tokenholders, is a tokenized liquidity-pool interest representing a proportional claim on a basket of U.S. dollar-denominated stable ERC20 tokens held in a Balancer pool. STABAL3 is a Balancer Pool Token (BPT) representing a proportional claim on the U.S. dollar-denominated stable tokens deposited by liquidity providers into the Balancer Vault. Holders earn returns from swap fees collected when traders exchange tokens through the pool and from yield fees on yield-bearing tokens, with Boosted Pools providing increased yield. The pool is continuously rebalanced by arbitrage traders, and the protocol levies swap fees, yield fees, and a governance-controlled protocol fee. There is no single corporate issuer; tokens are issued permissionlessly by smart contracts under Balancer DAO governance through a legal-wrapper structure comprising Balancer Foundation (Cayman Islands), Balancer OpCo Ltd (British Virgin Islands), and Balancer Onchain Ltd (British Virgin Islands). A BPT is an ERC20 token representing a proportional claim on the pooled tokens, not a fund interest, security, or trust interest. Pools and traders cannot be censored or whitelisted. Liquidity providers exit by burning their BPT to reclaim a proportional share of the underlying tokens directly from the pool. Assets are held non-custodially in the Vault, with no corporate custodian or segregation arrangement. Pool tokens follow the ERC20 standard via the Vault and are deployed across multiple EVM networks including Ethereum Mainnet, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Gnosis, Optimism, Polygon, and Polygon zkEVM. Tokens are minted when liquidity is added and burned when liquidity is removed, settling atomically onchain. Pool prices are determined onchain by the pool invariant and arbitrage rather than a published NAV.
