Overview
Active users (weekly) measures the number of unique addresses that make a revenue-generating transaction with a project, i.e. An application or a blockchain. Active users (weekly) are measured on a 7-day rolling basis.
Data sources
- Raw blockchain transaction records and program instructions
- Smart contract events capturing specific user interactions
- Asset metadata and token price feeds
- Chain availability and configuration data
Common calculation approaches
On-chain transaction analysis
Unique sender addresses are extracted from transaction records on EVM chains including Ethereum and BNB Chain, and from networks such as Tron and Solana. All transaction signers are identified as active users because every transaction on these blockchains requires a fee payment, regardless of whether the transaction is successful or failed.
Service-specific interaction tracking
For service-oriented projects, unique users are identified through specific revenue-generating actions captured from smart contract data. For example, users are identified from Jito based on JitoSOL Mint and Burn instructions for liquid staking and native SOL transfers to fee collection accounts for MEV tipping services.
Note: The calculation approaches and protocol examples above are representative patterns. Individual protocol implementations may vary.
