KaspaKAS
Overview
What is Kaspa?
Kaspa is a proof-of-work Layer 1 blockchain that uses a blockDAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) structure instead of a traditional linear chain. It implements the GHOSTDAG consensus protocol, which allows multiple blocks to be created simultaneously and in parallel, enabling high block rates (currently 10 blocks per second) with sub-second confirmations while maintaining proof-of-work security.
How does Kaspa work?
Miners process transactions using proof-of-work and receive block rewards and fees. The GHOSTDAG protocol orders blocks from the blockDAG structure to achieve consensus, allowing parallel block creation without orphaning blocks.
Who governs Kaspa?
KAS holders own and participate in the Kaspa network. The project was founded by Yonatan Sompolinsky, a computer scientist and blockchain researcher, and launched as a fair-launch cryptocurrency with no pre-mine, no ICO, and no venture capital funding.
