# bloXroute Active users (daily) Methodology

## 1. Overview

The bloxroute user DAU (Daily Active Users) metric measures the number of unique users interacting with bloxroute services on Solana each day. This metric is calculated by identifying unique transaction signers who made fee payments to bloxroute's fee collection addresses, providing a count of distinct active users per day.

## 2. Data sources

- **Solana native transfers**: Native SOL transfer events from the Solana blockchain, containing transaction details including signer addresses, recipient addresses, transfer amounts, and block timestamps
- **Solana transaction metadata**: Transaction-level data including transaction IDs and signer information
- **Solana block data**: Block timestamps for temporal aggregation

## 3. Step-by-step calculation

### Component A: Fee transaction identification
- **Purpose**: Identifies transactions that represent bloxroute service usage through fee payments
- **Logic**: Filters Solana native SOL transfers to include only those sent to the bloxroute fee collection address `HWEoBxYs7ssKuudEjzjmpfJVX7Dvi7wescFsVx2L5yoY`. Excludes transfers where the transaction signer is the same as the fee collection address to avoid counting internal or system transactions. Extracts key transaction details including `block_timestamp`, `transaction_id`, `transaction_signer`, and transfer `amount`
- **Key fields**: `block_timestamp` for temporal grouping, `transaction_signer` for user identification, `to_address` for fee collection address filtering, `amount` for transfer value

### Component B: Daily user aggregation
- **Purpose**: Aggregates unique users by day to calculate daily active user counts
- **Logic**: Truncates `block_timestamp` to day granularity using timestamp truncation. Groups transactions by the resulting daily timestamp and counts distinct `transaction_signer` addresses. Each unique signer represents one active user for that day. Sets standardized metadata including chain as 'solana', user type as 'User', and timestamp grain as 'day'
- **Key fields**: `timestamp` (truncated to day), `signer` as `user_dau` for unique user identification, `chain` for blockchain identification

### Final aggregation
- **Combining components**: The daily aggregation directly produces the final metric values, with each row representing one day's count of distinct active users
- **Currency conversion**: No currency conversion required as this is a user count metric
- **Time aggregation**: Data is aggregated to daily boundaries using timestamp truncation to day level
- **Final calculation**: Each daily record contains the count of distinct transaction signers who made fee payments to bloxroute addresses on that day, representing the daily active user count
