avUSD, issued by the Avant Protocol smart contracts under the governance of Avant Protocol Foundation tokenholders, is a crypto-collateralized stablecoin that represents a programmatic claim referencing the U.S. dollar (USD) at a one-to-one ratio. [S1][S2]

Each avUSD is backed 1:1 by USD Coin (USDC) and is mintable with USDC or Tether (USDT), with underlying deposits deployed into delta-neutral and market-neutral trading strategies run by external partners, primarily 0xPartners. [S1][S3][S4] Yield from unstaked avUSD is retained by the protocol. [S5][S6] Holders bear a 10% performance fee on net strategy profits, an additional variable performance fee allocated to trading partners, a redemption fee shown before confirmation, and per-chain gas. The tokens are issued and operated by the Avant Protocol Foundation, governed by the law of the British Virgin Islands under the British Virgin Islands Arbitration Act 2013, and are not issued by a single regulated corporate entity. [S2] Holders hold programmatic claims against the protocol smart contracts rather than a regulated security, fund interest, or e-money instrument. [S2] Restricted Persons, including residents, citizens, or entities of the United States, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and certain Ukrainian regions, are excluded, and users must be at least 18. avUSD is an ERC-20 token issued natively on Avalanche and deployed cross-chain via Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero OFT adapters to networks including Ethereum and Linea. [S5][S8] Users mint by depositing USDC or USDT on Avalanche through a native or in-app routed path. [S3][S5] Portfolio NAV is calculated weekly by independent valuation provider Pennyworks. [S1]
