Common calculation approaches
State-based balance tracking
Vault balances are tracked from daily state snapshots of smart contracts on networks including Ethereum and Avalanche. For example, total asset values are extracted from yield-bearing vault contracts—such as those from Spark—to determine the cumulative deposits held within the protocol.
Event-based delta calculation
Net changes in vault positions are calculated by capturing deposit and withdrawal events from smart contracts. Daily asset deltas are aggregated and added to the existing balance to maintain a running total of deposits for projects including Spark, with all values normalized by decimal precision and converted to USD.
