Assets staked
Assets staked measures the total value of user deposits that have been staked or restaked through a liquid staking or restaking project. It is analogous to assets under management (AUM), and serves as a proxy for the project's revenue-generation capacity, as staking rewards are typically earned on the staked amount.

Overview

Data sources
- On-chain event logs and program instructions capturing deposit, withdrawal, and rebase activities
- Consensus layer data for validator balances and activation status
- Token price feeds for USD conversion
- Token metadata for decimal precision and asset normalization
Common calculation approaches
Liquid staking token (LST) and event-based tracking
Outstanding token supply and smart contract events are utilized to determine the total value held within liquid staking contracts. For example, the circulating supply of JitoSOL tokens is monitored from Jito, while PostTotalShares and TokenRebased events are processed from Lido to maintain an accurate total of pooled assets. Similarly, total underlying balances are derived from RewardsEarned events from Liquid Collective.
Validator and strategy-based aggregation
Total value is calculated by aggregating underlying balances across restaking strategies or active validator units. For instance, balances are summed from restaking strategies and native ETH restaking pods from EigenLayer. For Rocket Pool, the count of active minipools is multiplied by the standard validator collateral to determine the total assets staked.
Note: The calculation approaches and protocol examples above are representative patterns. Individual protocol implementations may vary.
