# Mantra Chain Transaction count Methodology

## 1. Overview

Transaction count measures the total number of confirmed transactions added to Mantra Chain. This metric reflects the overall level of activity and user engagement across the network's native and EVM-compatible layers. It serves as a primary indicator of network utilization for both Mantra Chain and Mantra EVM.

## 2. Data sources

- **Blockchain events**: Transaction records captured from Mantra Chain and Mantra EVM

## 3. Step-by-step calculation

### Component A: Mantra Chain transaction extraction

- **Purpose**: Capture the volume of transactions occurring on the native Mantra Chain layer
- **Logic**: Unique transaction records are retrieved from the native environment. For each confirmed transaction, the block timestamp and unique transaction hash are extracted to facilitate deduplication and temporal alignment.
- **Key fields**: `transaction_hash` (unique identifier), `block_timestamp` (event timing)

### Component B: Mantra EVM transaction extraction

- **Purpose**: Capture the volume of transactions occurring on the Mantra EVM layer
- **Logic**: Transactions are parsed from the EVM-compatible environment. Data points including the block timestamp and transaction hash are collected for all confirmed executions within the EVM state.
- **Key fields**: `transaction_hash` (unique identifier), `block_timestamp` (event timing)

### Component C: Daily aggregation and deduplication

- **Purpose**: Consolidate transaction data into daily counts per product
- **Logic**: Transaction data from both components is aggregated by daily intervals. The total transaction count is determined by calculating the number of distinct transaction hashes for each specific product (Mantra Chain and Mantra EVM). All timestamps are truncated to the day level using UTC boundaries.
- **Key fields**: `transaction_count` (distinct count of hashes), `timestamp` (truncated day)
