# Injective Cosmos Transaction count Methodology

## 1. Overview

Transaction count measures the number of confirmed transactions added to the Injective Cosmos blockchain. This metric reflects the level of activity and user engagement within the Injective Cosmos ecosystem. Every successful operation, including transfers, exchange interactions, and governance votes, is recorded as a unique transaction and contributes to the total volume of network activity.

## 2. Data sources

- **Blockchain events**: Confirmed transactions from Injective Cosmos

## 3. Step-by-step calculation

### Component A: Injective Cosmos transaction identification

- **Purpose**: Identifies and extracts all unique transaction records from the Injective Cosmos blockchain.
- **Logic**: Transaction records are retrieved from the Injective Cosmos chain. Each transaction is identified by its unique transaction hash and the block timestamp associated with its confirmation on the network.
- **Key fields**: `transaction_hash` (unique identifier), `block_timestamp` (timing)

### Component B: Transaction count aggregation

- **Purpose**: Calculates the total volume of confirmed transactions per day.
- **Logic**: Unique transaction hashes are aggregated based on their block timestamps. The total count is calculated by daily intervals using UTC day boundaries. Any duplicate transaction hashes within the same period are excluded to ensure an accurate representation of unique confirmed operations.
- **Key fields**: `transaction_count` (aggregated sum)

Validators process transactions and receive transactions fees (supply-side fees).

Injective is a smart contract platform for decentralized finance applications (a blockchain) and an orderbook exchange protocol. Injective was founded by Eric Chen, Albert Chon etc. and launched in 2020. Note that this dashboard only tracks Injective's blockchain business.

INJ holders own and govern the protocol. They currently take a cut of the total transaction fees paid by users (revenue) via Burn Auctions. Injective's investors include Binance, Jump Crypto, Mark Cuban, etc.
