What is EigenLayer?

EigenLayer aims to become a marketplace between Ethereum stakers and applications needing active security. EigenLayer was founded by Sreeram Kannan and launched in 2023.

How does EigenLayer work?

Native ETH stakers or LST (liquid staking token) holders can deposit assets to and withdraw assets from EigenLayer. During the first stage of the launch users aren't able to delegate their staked assets. We currently only track the LSTs staked.

Who governs EigenLayer?

EigenLayer team and investors own and govern the protocol. They currently don’t charge any fees. EigenLayer's investors include Blockchain Capital, Polychain Capital, Coinbase Ventures, etc.
