deBridge operates two main products: (1) deBridge Messaging - node operators validate cross-chain transactions for data and asset transfers, and (2) DLN (deBridge Liquidity Network) - an order book of cross-chain intents where Makers create intents in the source chain and Takers provide liquidity on the destination chain. Validators currently do not take a cut of transfer fees (supply-side fees).

deBridge is an interoperability protocol with two products: deBridge Messaging enables decentralized transfers of data and assets between blockchains, and DLN (deBridge Liquidity Network) is a cross-chain token bridge and trading infrastructure. deBridge was founded by Alex Smirnov and launched in 2021, with DLN launched in 2023.

The deBridge team and investors own and govern the protocol. They currently take all transfer fees paid by traders (revenue). deBridge's investors include ParaFi Capital, Animoca Brands, Huobi Ventures, Lemniscap, etc. All fees paid by traders are accumulated on smart contracts operated by the deBridge team and will be governed by deBridge token holders.

# deBridge Fees Methodology

## 1. Overview

This metric calculates the total fees collected by the deBridge Messaging protocol from cross-chain bridge transfers. deBridge Messaging charges two types of fees for each transfer: a flat fee in the source chain's wrapped native token and a percentage-based fee in the token being transferred. The metric aggregates both fee types across all supported blockchains and converts them to USD for standardized reporting.

## 2. Data sources

- **deBridge Messaging protocol event logs**: Parsed `Sent` events from deBridge Messaging smart contracts on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, BSC, Fantom, Optimism, and Polygon containing fee parameters for each cross-chain transfer
- **deBridge Messaging asset mapping events**: Parsed `PairAdded` events from the same blockchains that establish relationships between deBridge Messaging asset IDs and their native token addresses and chains
- **Token metadata**: Token decimal places and symbol information for proper amount normalization
- **End-of-day price feeds**: Token price data for USD conversion across all supported tokens and chains
- **Wrapped native token addresses**: Hardcoded addresses for wrapped native tokens on each blockchain (WETH, WMATIC, WBNB, etc.)

## 3. Step-by-step calculation

### Component A: Asset ID mapping
- **Purpose**: Maps deBridge Messaging internal asset IDs to their corresponding native token addresses and blockchain chains
- **Logic**: Processes `PairAdded` events from deBridge Messaging contracts across all 8 supported blockchains. Each event contains a `debridgeId`, `nativeChainId` (numeric), and `nativeAddress`. The numeric chain IDs are mapped to chain names (1 for Ethereum, 42161 for Arbitrum, etc.). This creates a lookup table connecting deBridge Messaging's internal asset identifiers to the actual token contracts and their home chains
- **Key fields**: `debridgeId`, `native_token_chain_id`, `native_token_address`, `transaction_chain`

### Component B: Transfer fee extraction
- **Purpose**: Extracts both flat and percentage-based fees from each deBridge Messaging cross-chain transfer
- **Logic**: Processes `Sent` events from deBridge Messaging contracts, joining with the asset mapping to identify token details. Each event contains fee parameters with two components: `fixFee` (flat fee in wrapped native token of source chain) and `transferFee` (percentage-based fee in the token being transferred). The model captures transaction details, fee amounts, and links each fee to its appropriate token address using either hardcoded wrapped native addresses for flat fees or mapped native addresses for percentage fees
- **Key fields**: `fixed_fee_amount`, `transfer_fee_amount`, `fixed_fee_token_address`, `transfer_fee_token_address`, `block_timestamp`

### Component C: Flat fee processing
- **Purpose**: Processes flat fees paid in wrapped native tokens of the source blockchain
- **Logic**: Selects flat fee amounts and their corresponding wrapped native token addresses from the transfer data. Aggregates transactions to daily timestamps and applies decimal correction based on each wrapped native token's metadata. Converts corrected amounts to USD using end-of-day price feeds for the wrapped native tokens
- **Key fields**: `fixed_fee_amount` becomes `amount`, `fixed_fee_token_address` becomes `token_address`

### Component D: Percentage fee processing
- **Purpose**: Processes percentage-based fees paid in the tokens being transferred across chains
- **Logic**: Selects percentage fee amounts and their corresponding native token addresses from the transfer data. Uses the asset mapping to identify which token is being transferred and on which chain it natively exists. Aggregates to daily timestamps, applies decimal correction based on native token metadata, and converts to USD using end-of-day price feeds for the native tokens
- **Key fields**: `transfer_fee_amount` becomes `amount`, `transfer_fee_token_address` becomes `token_address`

### Final aggregation
- **Combining components**: The two fee components are combined using a union operation, creating a single dataset with both flat and percentage fees represented as separate records but with identical schema
- **Currency conversion**: All amounts are converted to USD using end-of-day token price feeds, with decimal correction applied before price conversion to ensure accurate calculations
- **Time aggregation**: All fees are aggregated to daily boundaries using timestamp truncation to day level
- **Final calculation**: The metric represents the sum of all deBridge Messaging transfer fees (both flat and percentage-based) converted to USD and aggregated by day, account address, blockchain, and business dimensions. Zero values are filled for missing periods to ensure complete time series data.
